After the riots by football fans around the Roman city derby, the Italian government has announced drastic measures. The fan groups of the rival clubs AS Rome and Lazio Rome are not allowed to visit three away games of their respective teams.
In addition, for security reasons, the duels of the rivals will only be held during the day and not in the evening, as the Interior Ministry explained.
Before and after the “Derby Della Capitale” on Sunday evening (1-1) there were numerous incidents. According to media reports, the police had intervened with water cannons, for example, to drive around 500 AS hooligans who wanted to attack Lazio supporters before the game. In addition, a group of Lazio-Hooligan’s security forces is said to have attacked before the game. A total of 24 police officers were injured by the riots.
On Tuesday evening, the police arrested three ultras of both clubs that are accused of being involved in the riots. A Lazio fan had already been detained on Monday. Based on video recordings, the police want to investigate further participants.
