After an outstanding in the meantime, the 21-year-old misses a goal. Federica Brignone celebrates its tenth win of the season and winning the overall World Cup.
Emma Aicher smiled relaxed in the cameras before the start, but shortly afterwards her good mood was there. After her victory the day before, the 21-year-old was as fast at the second Super-G in La Thuile in Italy as none of the competitors, but only a few moments after an outstanding meantime she missed a direction this time: from the dream of the third victory in the Alpine Ski World Cup.
“I drove too directly there, and then it was too late,” said Aicher on ZDF and added: “It’s good that I was quick before that the other was just stupid of me. But now I can’t do it anymore. “
Kira Weidle-Winkelmann could be completely satisfied at all, who only finished 28th after a missed journey in poor visibility.
On the shortened route in the Aosta Valley, where the journey time was again significantly below one minute, Aicher had driven out a lead of a huge 0.28 seconds at the “half” – without the carver, it would have been enough for a renewed coup. So Aicher only remained congratulated after the arrival of the Italian Federica Brignone on the tenth win of the season. The second was again Brignone’s teammate Sofia Goggia (+0.01 seconds), third novels Miradoli from France (+0.05).
Giant slalom world champion Brignone is about to catch up with her 382 points behind in the last four races at the World Cup final in Sun Valley in the US state of Idaho before her second victory in the overall World Cup after 2020.
“It is a mess of emotions. It’s crazy, something very big. After 2020 it was my big goal, ”said Brignone.
The 34-year-old Italian also has the best chance of winning the small crystal balls in the descent, in the Super-G and in the giant slalom. In the departure, she is 16 points ahead of Cornelia Hütter from Austria before the last race, in the Super-G she passed five points past the fourth place-placed Gut-Behrami. The best of the season only has to catch up in the giant slalom: her gap to Alice Robinson on New Zealand is 20 points.
