NBA: Allegations of rape against Williamson

Matchball warded off: The New York Knicks can continue to hope for the first final in 26 years. Jalen Brunson becomes the decisive factor in game five.

Zion Williamson is accused of rape by a former partner. He is vehemently defending himself through his lawyers.

NBA star Zion Williamson is facing accusations of rape. As reported by the AFP news agency, an unnamed woman has filed a corresponding lawsuit in a court in Los Angeles.

Williamson, who was selected as the first player by the New Orleans Pelicans in the 2019 draft, rejected the accusations in a letter from his lawyers, which is available to AFP, as “categorically false and reckless.”

Zion Williamson rejects the allegations

The plaintiff, who claims to have been in a relationship with Williamson from 2018 to 2023, is seeking damages for assault, sexual assault, domestic violence, burglary, stalking, and false imprisonment.

Williamson allegedly raped the woman twice in 2020 in an apartment in Beverly Hills, according to the accusation.

“Were not isolated cases”

“These two incidents were not isolated cases,” the lawsuit said. Criminal acts also occurred not only in California but also in other states. Louisiana and Texas were also mentioned.

Williamson’s lawyers stated that they take these “allegations extremely seriously and reject them decisively.” It is an “attempt to exploit a professional athlete for financial reasons.” There was no solid relationship between the plaintiff and the 24-year-old basketball professional, but rather a loose and consensual one.

“The plaintiff never expressed any concerns at any time during or immediately after this relationship,” Williamson’s lawyers said: “Only after the end did she begin to demand millions of dollars. (…) We are confident that the court proceedings will bring the truth to light and fully rehabilitate Mr. Williamson.”
