Luka Doncic finances the restoration of a Kobe Bryant wall picture in LA. The new Lakers superstar is celebrated for his commitment.
Luka Doncic, the new star of Los Angeles Lakers, has decided to cover the entire costs of restoring a vandalized mural from Kobe and Gigi Bryant in downtown Los Angeles.
The Slovenian donated $ 5,000 on Tuesday to fully achieve the goal of a gofundme page by the artist Louie Palsino. Palsino wants to restore the mural entitled “Mambas Forever” at the intersection of 14th and Main Street.
Doncic? “Proud that he is now a laker”
“It was always important to me to give something back to the community,” said Doncic after training in the Lakers complex. “You gave me so much, so I just want to give something back.”
Palsino was grateful for the donation and told the Los Angeles Times that Doncic “represents us in the right way”. “I would like to thank Luka and I am proud that he is now a laker and represents Los Angeles. I know that Kobe is proud,” he told Times. “I am sure that this will bring him to the hearts of all in Los Angeles alone.”
NBA playoffs: Lakers are in front of that
The Slovenian superstar moved from the Dallas Mavericks to the Lakers less than three months ago in a blockbuster trade. Together with LeBron James, he led the Lakers to the title in the Pacific Division and to number 3 on the seed list in the Western Conference playoffs.
But Los Angeles is about to leave, the Minnesota Timberwolves only need one win to progress with a 3-1 lead.
Legacy of Kobe Bryant
Kobe Bryant spent his entire 20-year career at the Lakers, won five championships and became the best scorer in the history of the franchise.
After the tragic death of Kobe and Gigi Bryant in a helicopter crash in January 2020, hundreds of murals and public art projects were created in South California.
