Michael Jordan’s former estate in Illinois is available on Airbnb. The luxury villa with sports facilities for 12 guests was inhabited by the NBA icon during his time with the Chicago Bulls.
The luxurious estate in Highland Park, Illinois, once owned by Michael Jordan, offers fans of luxury, privacy, and of course, basketball a unique opportunity.
The house, which was sold in December for $9.5 million, is available for rent on Airbnb starting this month. According to NBC News, the property is now owned by real estate investor John Cooper.
Jordan Villa as a Paradise for Sports Lovers
The two-story estate, built in 1995, has seven bedrooms and an impressive 17.5 bathrooms. Amenities include a full-size basketball court, putting green, tennis court, cigar room, and infinity pool.
Particularly striking is the huge entrance gate, which is decorated with the number 23 – Jordan’s jersey number from his days with the Chicago Bulls and Washington Wizards.
Exclusivity and NBA Myth are Expensive
To book the villa, a minimum stay of seven nights is required, and a maximum of 12 guests are allowed. Guests must sign a liability waiver and a non-disclosure agreement, as well as pay a deposit of $25,000.
A week in the iconic estate, known as Champions Point, could cost over six figures. Cooper is still unsure what he plans to do with the property in the long term.
“I am still considering many different uses for the property,” he said. “Some great uses require a zoning exemption, but in the meantime, short-term rentals are an allowable use to publicize the property and generate revenue.”
A Piece of Basketball History
The 32,683 square foot villa was built in 1995 on a 7-acre property that Jordan acquired in 1991.
On December 17, 2013, the property went on the market for $29 million. The final sale price meant a 67 percent price reduction after 12 years on the market.
