Lara Colturi is one of the greatest talents in skiing. But apparently she could make a new change in the association for a winter sports quake.
Lara Colturi is apparently faced with a spectacular U -turn. According to media reports, the 18-year-old ski super talent is considering a change of nation back to Italy. She is said to have already submitted an application to the Albanian winter sports association – but the role is not that simple backwards.
Because the Albanian association granted Colturi, who was on the podium three times last winter and was eighth in the overall World Cup, no release. Without this it shouldn’t change.
Should the Italian native to take the step, she would be excluded from all World Cup races and major events for a year – also from the 2026 Olympics in Milan and Cortina d’Ampezzo.
Ski-Wunderkind has only been starting for Albania since 2022
It was not until 2022 that the daughter of Daniela Ceccarelli, the 2002 Super-G Olympic champion, put Italian skiing into a shock and decided to start Albania in the future.
The reason for the association change was above all the freedoms that they enjoy there. In this way, she is trained by her parents and can decide on races and advertising revenue herself.
It is not yet known why Colturi now wants to turn back to the Albanian association. In various media it is only speculated whether this could have financial causes. Accordingly, there is no money and prestige in Albania, while in Italy it could quickly become a figurehead.
Colturi under time pressure
Overall World Cup winner Federica Brignone fails for an indefinite period because of her serious injury, Speed-Ace Sofia Goggia is no longer the youngest at the age of 32. However, Colturi has to decide whether to pause for a year or continue to start Albania.
A change of association would have to be submitted to the International Ski Association FIS by May 1st.
