Skier Lindsey Vonn is entering the final winter of her professional career full of confidence. Her comeback last season was “just the beginning,” the 41-year-old American told Sport Bild : “I still have a whole season ahead of me.”
Especially the Olympic Games in February in Milan/Cortina d’Ampezzo are “a great opportunity to end my career in a different, hopefully more positive way than the first time in 2019,” Vonn said: “I just want to start healthy and try one last time.”
Vonn believes she can win an Olympic medal
The 2010 Olympic downhill champion, who will be coached this winter by former alpine superstar Aksel Lund Svindal (42), believes she has a chance to win a medal. “I think I have a chance,” Vonn said: “Last winter was a rollercoaster, it went up and down. But overall, I’ve proven that I can still keep up with the front.”
Vonn took second place in the last Super-G of the past season in Sun Valley/US state of Idaho. This makes her the oldest skier to stand on the podium in a World Cup race. The first women’s speed races this winter are scheduled for December 12-14 in St. Moritz/Switzerland.
