Schröder (in white) in a duel with former teammates
After just seven days, there’s a reunion with former teammates.
Basketball world champion Dennis Schröder celebrated a successful return to Sacramento just one week after his NBA trade. The captain of the German national team won 132:126 with the Cleveland Cavaliers against the Kings and secured his new club’s second victory in his second appearance. Schröder came off the bench at his old stomping ground and contributed ten points, three rebounds, and four assists in 17 minutes.
Eleven-time All-Star James Harden made his debut for Cleveland, scoring 23 points. The top scorer was point guard Donovan Mitchell with 35 points; for Sacramento, Nique Clifford scored best with 30 points. The Cavs had acquired Schröder from Sacramento last Sunday. While the 32-year-old with Cleveland has good chances for the playoffs with a record of 32 wins and 21 losses, the Kings remain the worst team in the league with twelve wins and 42 losses.
Without the still-injured World and European Champion Franz Wagner (ankle), Orlando Magic celebrated their second consecutive victory. The team, featuring national players Moritz Wagner and Tristan da Silva, defeated Utah 120:117 and remains on course for the Play-In tournament. Wagner played strongly off the bench with 13 points and eight rebounds, while da Silva scored eight points.
Maximilian Kleber also achieved a success with the Los Angeles Lakers, winning 105:99 against the Golden State Warriors, contributing four points and seven rebounds in 28 minutes. From a German perspective, only Isaiah Hartenstein suffered a defeat with NBA champion Oklahoma City Thunder, losing 106:112 against the Houston Rockets.
