Manchester City suffers a defeat in a heated match against Newcastle United. Subsequently, Pep Guardiola engages in several discussions.
First a setback in the championship race, then wild discussions. Pep Guardiola experienced a day to forget with Manchester City in the 1-2 defeat at Newcastle United.
Actually, City wanted to put pressure on league leader FC Arsenal with an away win, but it turned out differently in a heated game – with many controversial situations.

Pep Guardiola went after a cameraman after the game
Especially City coach Guardiola seemed to have been extremely affected by the defeat. After the game, he lost his temper several times on the pitch.
Guardiola goes after cameraman
The Spaniard sprinted furiously onto the pitch and engaged in a verbal exchange with Newcastle’s Bruno Guimaraes. Then he addressed referee Sam Barott and his assistants with clear words, who had repeatedly made wrong decisions from the Skyblues’ point of view in controversial situations.
But that wasn’t enough, because on the way off the pitch back into the locker room, a cameraman also got his share.
When the cameraman tried to film him, as usual after the game on the pitch, Guardiola first pushed the camera aside and then talked intensively to the surprised cameraman. He pulled on the TV man’s headphones, shouted something at him and visibly got very close: His nose landed on the man’s ear.
Arriving in the catacombs, the 54-year-old had calmed down again. When asked by Sky Sports about his discussion with Guimaraes, he replied: “I told him how good he is. The rest of our conversation is not for the public, but everything is good between us.”
He also did not want to comment on the discussion with the refereeing team. “No questions about it please. Everything is fine,” he told the BBC .
City feels disadvantaged in controversial scenes
The reason for the excitement after the game may have been the various controversial situations in the game. City felt disadvantaged several times.
In the first half, City demanded a penalty when Phil Foden was quite violently cleared by Fabian Schär.
Referee Barott’s whistle remained silent in the situation, just as in the second half when Gianluigi Donnarumma was supposedly fouled before Newcastle’s second goal. In addition, Bruno Guimaraes was in an offside position at the start of the goal.
The goal still counted. City lost and is now four points behind league leader Arsenal despite having played one more game.
