Nick Woltemade missed his fifth goal in the Premier League due to hitting the post, but celebrated a dramatic and very important 2-1 victory with Newcastle United against Fulham. Ironically, a former German international nearly stole the show from Woltemade: Bernd Leno.
The goalkeeper had a superb day at Fulham and made several outstanding saves. Only in the 90th minute could he no longer intervene on Bruno Guimares’ follow-up shot, allowing the “Magpies” to celebrate the 2-1 victory. Earlier, Newcastle had taken the lead through Jacob Murphy (18th minute), before Sasa Lukic equalized (56th minute).
Nick Woltemade was no longer on the pitch during the decisive scene shortly before the final whistle. He was substituted in the 86th minute. He worked hard and had his best chance in the fourth minute, hitting the post with his right foot from five meters after a set piece.
For Newcastle, the victory moved them slightly up the table to eleventh place. After nine matches, the team now has three wins, three draws, and three losses to their name.
