Out of trouble that most of the national associations did not even want to speak to him, the two -time world champion Ronaldo explains his retreat.
The candidacy for the presidential post in the domestic football association CBF has ended for Brazil’s legend Ronaldo (48) in total frustration. “On a first contact with 27 national associations, I found 23 closed doors,” wrote the three -time world footballer on Instagram and announced: “I hereby officially withdraw my intention.”
The two -time world champion ironically explained out of trouble that most of the national associations did not even want to speak to him: “The majority with decision -making in hand understand that Brazilian football is in good hands, so my opinion counts little.” According to the statutes, the voices of the CBF branches have a higher weight than that of the 40 first and second division clubs, so they can use a president on their own.
It was obvious that the state associations wished for a continuation of the term of the current President Ednaldo Rodrigues. “I will continue to stick to the fact that the path to an evolution of Brazilian football leads primarily through dialogue, transparency and cohesion,” Ronaldo with critical tones decided to withdraw his candidacy.
Most recently, there was an opposite candidate in 1989 in a election of the CBF president.
