The capital club is about to triumph in the local league – but Paris is already targeting other titles.
The lead is huge, the champagne is already cold: top club Paris Saint-Germain could crown the French football champion again on Saturday-but still needs shooting aid. Only with your own success at AS Saint-Étienne (7 p.m.), a defeat by Olympique Marseille near Stade Reims (5 p.m.) and a tie between the AS Monaco and OGC Nice (21.05 p.m./everything DAZN) would be the 13th championship title in the club’s history.
“We are not masters as long as it is not mathematically safe,” said PSG coach Luis Enrique on Friday: “But we can feel like a master, because we are the best team of Ligue 1.” This is illustrated by the numbers: With 68 points from 26 games, the lead of the serial champion to pursuer Marseille is 19 points. In addition, Enrique’s team is still unbeaten – there has never been a master without defeat in France.
And that’s why the leader does not want to leave loose despite the comfortable starting position. “There are still eight games in the league, we want to be competitive because it will best prepare for the other competitions,” said Enrique.
After all, PSG can win the triple this season. The capital club is a favorite both in the quarter -finals of the Champions League against the English first division club Aston Villa and in the semi -finals of the French Cup against the second division Usl Dunkirk.
