The defeat for Michael van Gerwen is perfect! The Dutch darts superstar lost to Nathan Aspinall 2-6 in legs on the last group matchday of the Premier League and thus missed the playoffs (May 29 LIVE on TV on SPORT1 and in the LIVESTREAM).
MvG will finish the season in fifth place. The record winner of the premier class of darts has only performed so poorly once in his career: In 2020 he also missed the final of the best four.
Michael van Gerwen is annoyed
Van Gerwen would have had to win the 16th matchday to make the leap into the playoffs after all. A three-dart average of 88.72 points and a checkout rate of 22.2 percent were by far not enough against “The Asp”. The former major winner himself delivered with three high finishes as well as 98.72 points and 60 percent on doubles.
