Johannes Thingnes and Tarjei Bö can be really celebrated again on the Holmenkollen. In the future, other things will be the focus.
With a golden crown on the head and cloak in the design of the Norwegian flag around the shoulders, the “biathlon kings” Johannes Thingnes and Tarjei Bö Bö went to their very last round of honor. For the sounds of the farewell classic “con te partirò”, the stars on the stone stems at home ran a few meters on their ski, waving the many fans onto the still well-attended grandstand. “It was a pleasure for us,” said Johannes Thingnes: “We hope that we offered you a big show.”
For the brothers Bö, the departure in front of his own compatriots was the perfect career. “The sun is shining, it seems for us and all the people who are here,” said Tarjei: “We are so happy that the final here is on the Holmenkollen. We will never forget you all for the rest of our life. I will never forget this day.”
For years, the brothers had shaped the sport with their outstanding achievements. Especially Johannes Thingnes Bö, who had crowned the world champion in the last biathlon winter of his life. “It is a great story that we are now leaving this World Cup together,” said the younger Bö at the ARD: “It was a very nice ride for us. And now it’s time to make it easy and to clear the stage for the next generation.”
Also at the 2026 Winter Olympics in Italy. The effort for the competitions in Antholz is too big for the bad, instead of biathlon, other things should now be in the foreground. “We have to be fathers,” emphasized Tarjei in Oslo: “We want to give our families back as much as possible.”
