Last season jumping was once again only the superior Nika Prevc better – and sets records.
The end of the season on the “regular place”: Ski jumper Selina Freitag flew to second place at the record show by Nika Prevc at the World Cup final in Lahti in Finnish and also ended up in second place in the overall World Cup. The 23 -year -old Saxon stood on the podium for the 13th time in her career and was second for the tenth time – Friday has to wait for her first World Cup victory.
The 20 -year -old PrevC celebrated its 15th success this winter and the tenth victory in series. The Slovenin, who also won both individual jumping before Friday at the World Cup in Trondheim, hired two World Cup records by Sara Takanashi. The Japanese succeeded in 15 victories in the 2013/14 season, two years later Takanashi also won ten times in a row.
With jumps to 128.0 and 133.5 m (328.8 points), PrevC won before Friday (277.4/115.0+124.5). 51.4 points are the biggest lead in a single World Cup ever. In 1987 the Austrian Andreas Felder won Fidjestöl while flying in Planica with 47.5 points ahead of Norwegian Ole Gunner.
Record world champion Katharina Schmid said goodbye to the season with a good fifth place. The Oberstdorfer had started the winter, won four of the first nine jumps, was seven times on the podium and also led in the World Cup. In the 16 jumping afterwards, Schmid flew significantly past the podium, in the World Cup accounting she became third behind Prevc and Friday. It is still open whether Schmid will continue her career.
On Saturday and Sunday, the men in Lahti contest their penultimate World Cup weekend with a single and a super team competition.
