AC Fiorentina mourns its long-time club boss Rocco Commisso.
“Today we all mourn him”: AC Fiorentina has announced the death of its long-time club president Rocco Commisso.
The entrepreneur passed away after a long illness at the age of 76. This was also confirmed by Mediacom, the company he founded, in a statement.
“For his family, he was a role model, a leading figure, a loyal and faithful man who, together with his wife Catherine, reached the milestone of 50 years of marriage, and for his children, he was a strict and loving father, entirely in keeping with his character: kind and determined,” Fiorentina wrote in an obituary. “His love for Fiorentina was the most beautiful gift he ever gave himself.”
Fiorentina’s Home Ground Will Bear Commisso’s Name
The Viola Park, the club’s home ground featuring Robin Gosens, will “forever” bear the name of the late owner in Commisso’s honor.
Commisso had taken over the Tuscan club in 2019. He also invested in the USA in New York Cosmos and the Columbia University Lions.
