Serious riots in Rome

There are severe riots before the derby in Rome. The police have to intervene at the Stadio Olimpico.

Before the city derby in the first Italian football league between Lazio and AS Rome (8:45 p.m.), there were serious riots.

According to Italian media reports, the police had to intervene with water cannons to drive around 500 AS hooligans who wanted to attack Lazio supporters near the Stadio Olimpico.

There were also tensions in the area of the Ponte Milvio bridge. Here a group of Lazio hooligans who were traveling towards the stadium are said to have attacked the security forces. Numerous bottle shards remained on the asphalt, seven parked cars were damaged. Some trash cans were also set on fire.

1000 police officers in the capital are deployed for the “Derby Della Capitale”. Lazio is in sixth place in the table, city rival AS with the former world champion Mats Hummels is in seventh place.
