Austria’s ski jumpers have a new head coach: a former four-hill tour tour.
The former four-hill tourist Thomas Diethart becomes the new head coach of the Austrian ski jumpers. The 33-year-old, whose career was characterized by numerous falls, succeeds the resigned Bernhard Metzler.
“I am very happy that I can take over the position – it is a cool challenge,” said the previous assistant coach.
Thomas Diethart won the four -hill tour in 2014

From May 2020 to the end of 2021, Diethart also worked for the German Ski Association (DSV).
At the ÖSV, he is supposed to prepare the team around the former overall World Cup winner Eva Pinkelnig for the Olympic Games in Milan. “I am convinced that he is exactly the right man with his level-headed, calm manner,” said ÖSV sports director Mario Stecher.
Sensational victory on four -hillt tour
Diethart had sensationally won the tour in 2013/14 when he reached the only three podium places in his career within nine days, including the victories in Garmisch-Partenkirchen and Bischofshofen.
As a result, however, he could never build on that season. After several heavy falls, he ended his career in 2018. As a result of the many crash landings, Diethart lost his taste and smell.
