Slot “happy” about Salah’s return

Mohamed Salah has not been in Liverpool's starting XI since November

Liverpool FC’s team manager, Arne Slot, wants to have forgotten the spat with Mohamed Salah and will welcome him with open arms.

Liverpool FC team manager Arne Slot wants to welcome superstar Mohamed Salah with open arms upon his return from the Africa Cup of Nations. “Mo was so important for this club, for me, so I’m happy that he’s coming back,” the Dutchman said on Friday, asserting: “Even if I had 15 attackers, I would be happy if he comes back.”

Salah had made headlines in early December when he accused the club of “throwing him under the bus” after he had been benched three times in a row. There was also talk of a strained relationship with Slot. After his substitution in the 2-0 win against Brighton & Hove Albion in mid-December and an assist, the Dutch coach declared the matter settled.

Salah comeback in the Champions League?

Nevertheless, transfer speculation surrounding the “Egyptian King” had recently emerged. Salah was linked with a possible transfer to Saudi Arabia. While the 33-year-old once again played in vain for the title at the Africa Cup of Nations, Florian Wirtz flourished at the Reds. Liverpool lost none of the six games without Salah, who is fighting for third place against Nigeria on Saturday (5:00 PM/ Sportdigital ) at the continental tournament.

He is therefore not yet available for Liverpool’s league match on Saturday (4:00 PM/ Sky ) against FC Burnley. However, Salah could feature on Wednesday in the Champions League against Olympique Marseille. “We are in discussions with him about what we expect from him,” Slot said.
