Raphinha shone brightly for FC Barcelona last season. Now, the offensive star has been honored.
The best footballer in the Spanish league comes from the team of coach Hansi Flick. Brazilian attacker Raphinha (28) from champion FC Barcelona was named Player of the Season on Friday, prevailing over his teammate Lamine Yamal and Real Madrid’s star striker Kylian Mbappé. Young star Yamal also received the award for best player under 23.
Raphinha moved to the Catalans from Leeds United in 2022 for almost 60 million euros. After two decent seasons, Raphinha particularly excelled this season under Flick, winning the national championship, the national cup, and the Supercup with the Catalans. He recently extended his contract in Barcelona until 2028.
Raphinha had occasionally worn the captain’s armband for Barcelona during the injury of national goalkeeper Marc-André ter Stegen.
