“Although biathlon was my life, luckily sports is not everything in life,” said the IBU Cup winner of 2021 in a statement on his Instagram account.

When he was ten, he dreamed of becoming the world’s best biathlete. In the end, he could not achieve the goal despite hard work, but he is still proud to have measured himself with the “best of the best” on the “biggest stages”.
“Now a time of the identity crisis is waiting in which I am no longer a ‘biathlete’, but I am really looking forward to what the rest of my life has to offer,” the Norwegian looks at the challenges that lie ahead.
Andersen shows fighter heart
The end of his career threatened him seven years ago when heart problems were found in the then 18-year. He underwent three operations that made competitive sports possible.
Andersen fought back and won the IBU Cup. He then celebrated his debut in the World Cup in the 2021/22 season and even had two podium places in individual races.
However, he could never prevail against the strong competition in his own country. Now he pulled the consequences and explained his resignation.
