At the historic gold coup of Johannes Hösflot Kläbo in Trondheim, a Norwegian compatriot is becoming an accident raven by falling – for the second time at the World Cup.
On the penultimate day of the title fights in his hometown, Kläbo also won the marathon over 50 km and rose to the first six-time winner at a World Cup. Meanwhile, Martin Löwström Nyenget experienced a bitter day.
Fall costs Nyenget medal – for the second time
Nyenget was in one of the demanding descents at the head of the management quartet before he stumbled and fell two kilometers before the finish line without the influence of the three competitors.
“Fall, attention, fall. Then he plunges in this supposedly simple situation. Actually inexplicable. Maybe he looked into the audience? ”ARD commentator Jens Jörg Rieck reacted shocked to the avoidable fall.
His chance of a World Cup medal was gone afterwards: Nyenget fought again, but came up to the trio at the top and ultimately finished fourth.
Bronze winner has pity
Bitter: Already in the 10-kilometer race, where he was also on a medal course, Nyenget had missed the podium in a fall.
Although the World Cup was not a complete failure for the 32 -year -old Nyenget – he won silver in the skiathlon and gold with the relay – the disappointment was great immediately after the race: Nyenget broke out into tears, and the competition also had sorry.
“It hurts for Martin, I think he was stronger today than I was,” said Senen Hegstad Krüger, who benefited from Nyenget’s fall and won bronze.
