Skir racer Federica Brignone crowned her great season with winning the third crystal ball. The Italian now secured the small ball in the giant slalom after the overall World Cup and the departure rating. The 34-year-old was enough for a strong second place at the World Cup final in Sun Valley/USA.
However, the world champion benefited from the bitterly from her competitor Alice Robinson, who had fallen in the first run. The New Zealander had had 20 points ahead of Brignone before the final race.
German athletes cut off
The victory in the last giant slalom of winter went to Lara Gut-Behrami from Switzerland, which was 0.14 seconds ahead of Brignone. Third was Sara Hector (Sweden/+0.80). Slalom specialist Lena Dürr, eleventh after the first run, took the 17th place after a serious mistake with 12.14 seconds behind. Emma Aicher resigned in the second round.
