Lou JeanMonnot loses the duel with Franziska Preuss in a memorable finale in Oslo. The French biathlete talks about the fall and becomes emotionally.
The dramatic final in the overall biathlon World Cup in Oslo caused deep grief at Lou JeanMonnot. However, the French woman, who missed the triumph with Franziska Preuß after a fall shortly before the finish line, blamed the German competitor.
“I thought I led at that moment and thought I also had enough space on the inside. I wanted to take the curve tight and in the end my legs burned and I put the stick on my skis myself,” said JeanMonnot at ARD .
Lou JeanMonnot was destroyed after the finish
Prussia was not responsible for the fall. “Of course she closed the door a bit, but it was my own mistake and everything was okay from her. Of course it was the fight for the overall World Cup and it was electrifying,” said JeanMonnot.
JeanMonnot hit hard
Shortly before the finish, the two rivals fought for the day’s victory and associated with the triumph in the overall ranking. JeanMonnot wanted to take a narrow curve on the inner track and went to the ground without contact with Prussia. The German ran right next to her, but did not fell and ran to victory. Swede Elvira Öberg also benefited and became second.
The duo did not blame itself. Instead, Preuss comforted her disappointed opponent and stood in the finish line next to the French for minutes. Then we went on the round of honor in front of the main grandstand. Both with Preuss and JeanMonnot, tears flowed after the race.
“Very disappointed with the way”
The 26 -year -old French woman also fought her emotions on the ARD microphone when she was asked about her feelings: “It is very difficult. I would like to forget everything that happened. It is of course not the way I want to end the season at all. I am very close.”
“Franziska told me right away: We can ask if there were two balls,” revealed JeanMonnot, who emphasized that they would have preferred both if the final had been decided differently. “Of course I am very disappointed with the way in which it happened in the last 500 meters with this fall. She would have loved it exactly as I had ended.”
