Vinícius with a verbal derailment: “It’s better if I go”

Real Madrid won the first Clásico under Xabi Alonso 2-1. The Real coach was in a good mood after the game.

Real Madrid’s superstar Vinícius Júnior once again overshot the mark in the Clásico victory. The Brazilian is even threatening to take a drastic step.

All sunshine for the dominant Spanish league leaders Real Madrid after the 2-1 success in the Clásico against FC Barcelona? Not at all! Rather, the prevailing topic is the renewed scandal involving Vinícius Júnior, who behaved completely inappropriately during his substitution and threatened to leave.

When Real coach Xabi Alonso made a double substitution in the 72nd minute, the number 7 also lit up, which completely upset the Brazilian. The 25-year-old loudly cursed, gesticulated, and disappeared into the catacombs without giving Alonso a glance or shaking his hand.

What capped it all off, however, was his threat to draw a line. “Always me!” the Real star angrily said according to DAZN during his substitution and complained: “I’m leaving the team, it’s better if I go. I’m going!” He spiced up his outburst with a strong curse (“To hell!”), which Alonso immediately returned: “Come on, Vini, damn it!”

Vinícius Junior causes a scandal

As Real’s superstar, who was substituted for the fifth time in the tenth league game on Sunday and reportedly does not have the best relationship with Alonso, returned to the interior after about seven minutes of absence, he once again slipped into one of the leading roles.

In the heated stoppage time with six yellow and two red cards, he got into a scuffle with Barcelona’s youngster Lamine Yamal, who had verbally heated up the Clásico (“Madrid steals and complains”). The security personnel and Real’s Antonio Rüdiger had to intervene.

The press reacted with annoyance to the behavior of the Brazilian, who had by no means been noticed negatively for the first time. “None of Vinícius’ tantrums was like today’s,” wrote the newspaper AS : “Tremendous is an understatement. Unprecedented.” Mundo Deportivo asked: “Vinicius, why always you?”

Alonso keeps it low key

Alonso, on the other hand, struck a conciliatory tone. “There are different personalities in the teams, and we have to understand them,” said the 43-year-old former coach of Bayer Leverkusen: “Vini also contributed to our great game.”

Nevertheless, Alonso announced a conversation with his superstar, who has been playing for the Royals since 2018: “We will of course talk about his reaction, we will definitely do that. But we will do it internally. And now I want to focus on the good things.”
