Niclas Füllkrug is back in the field after a long time of suffering, hits massively on Saturday. Coach Graham Potter fully relies on the German international.
DFB star Niclas Füllkrug impressively reported back after a long time of suffering. The 32-year-old striker of West Ham United achieved the interim 1-1 equalization in the draw against the AFC Bournemouth (2: 2) and scored for the first time since January 4 (1: 4 at Manchester City).
“It’s not about me, but I am very happy that I could meet before our curve. I waited eight months for this moment to meet in our stadium. It is not my best season, I was often injured, so I was very happy to feel the love of the fans,” said Füllkrug after the game.

The national player had been missing for almost three months due to a thigh injury and only celebrated his comeback last Tuesday in the league game at the Wolverhampton Wanderers (0-1).
Fill jug cheers in front of the fans
The former BVB attacker also missed the past Nation League games of the German national team against Italy. Due to an Achilles tendon irritation, he had already failed for several months last year (September to December).
Füllkrug had screwed the highest on Saturday after a corner of James Ward-Prowsse and headed the ball into the left corner (61.). Then he jumped up with concentrated fists, cheered in front of the fans of the hammers. The striker had only been substituted in the 54th minute.
Potter strengthens filling jug
At West Ham, he enjoys the trust of coach Graham Potter, who had taken over the team in early January – shortly before Füllkrug’s injury.
“I was very happy for him that he could play 45 minutes. He gets better and better the more playing time he gets,” said Potter on Tuesday after the defeat with the hikers. Füllkrug came into play after the break, made a good game, but could not prevent the bankruptcy.
The former Werder professional changed from Borussia Dortmund to England last summer, now stands for West Ham on three goals. He scored his first goal in front of his own fans against Bournemouth.
