Women: USA probably hosts 2031, United Kingdom 2035

The hosts for the upcoming three World Championships for women are apparently determined. The FIFA President surprisingly announces this.

Women’s world football championships are likely to take place in the United States or the United Kingdom in 2031 and 2035. As Gianni Infantino announced as part of the UEFA congress in Belgrade, there is only a valid application at the end of the official deadline for expressions of interest. The application for 2031 is “potentially together with other Concacaf members,” said the FIFA President. The one from 2035 comes from Europe from the mother countries of football in the United Kingdom.

“The World Championships will take place in great nations to boost women’s football,” said Infantino. In addition, the number of participants should be increased from 32 to 48 for both tournaments. The United States had recently registered public interest in the 2031 World Cup, Mexico is a potential co-host. China, Japan and South Africa, among other things, were considered possible competitors, which, however, all of whom are apparently no valid expression of interest.

The football associations of England, Northern Ireland, Scotland and Wales announced in February that they wanted to submit a common expression of interest to the orientation of the final round 2035. This was preceded by a decision by the FIFA Council to carry out the tournament in Europe or in Africa. Spain had also expressed the intention of an application together with Portugal and Morocco, but this constellation obviously does not consider.

The next World Cup will take place in Brazil in 2027 with 32 participants. Germany went away empty -handed with its application in the Netherlands and Belgium, but then decided against a further application for 2031 or 2035. Instead, the DFB is fully responsible for an application for the EM 2029.
