World Matchplay: Pikachu disappointed when leaving

Bryan Mbumo changes to Manchester United. Does the 75 million man solve the problems of the Red Devils? The expectations could hardly be greater.

Ricardo Pietreczko is eliminated in the first round of the World Matchplay. The German disappoints against Chris Dobey.

Ricardo Pietreczko’s World Matchplay ends early! After Martin Schindler, the second German darts star is eliminated in the 1st round of the Major tournament.

Pietreczko lost to Chris Dobey with 5:10. He lacked his usual good scoring and strong double rate. In the end, he played an average of 83.22 points and a double rate of 31.3 percent.

Dobey even reached the next round with a worse checkout rate of 30.3 percent. However, he threw an average of 90.95 points per shot.

“It’s almost annoying to watch”

“That’s bitter. So much would be possible here if he played his normal game,” said darts professional Tim Wolters at Dazn.

Commentator Elmar Paulke, who acts as host of the TV show Darts Party at SPORT1, said: “It’s almost annoying to watch.” He was referring to the first dart of the German, which was often far from its actual target in the triple field.

Both players got off to a bumpy start. After each winning their first serve leg, the scoring collapsed completely and Dobey and Pietreczko repeatedly scattered throws into low number fields. As a result, there were three breaks in a row.

“He just can’t let that happen,” Wolters argued during the fourth leg, when Dobey was able to win it with 20 darts on Pietreczko’s serve.

Nevertheless, the German, who had to deal with whistles from the English audience again and again, took a 3:2 lead with a hit on D2.

After a short break, both players stabilized their game and Dobey managed to win three legs in a row. As a result, Pietreczko fell behind 4:6. The German threw many darts past the double fields, giving Dobey chances again and again.

The Englishman also came out of the second break of the game better and brought the victory home confidently. Pietreczko could no longer exert any pressure.
