Oliver Kahn is considering climbing Girondin’s Bordeaux Club at the crashed French club and the club from the fourth to the first class. However, certain circumstances make the plans of the Bayern icon difficult.
The fact that Oliver Kahn wants to start as an investor at the traditional club Girondin’s Burdeaux collapsed into the fourth league has been no longer a secret for some time.
The Bayern icon had already been spotted in the French city for initial talks. Bordeaux owner GĂ©rard Lopez is said to have rejected a first offer of Kahn. According to information from the radio station RMC Sport, Kahn is said to have offered “without proof of funds”.
However, as the former Bavaria CEO now clarified, this step should now be completed. “We promised 30 million euros there in a first step and also proved it in the official bodies,” he explained in the picture podcast “ Bayern -insider”.

Kahn wants to lead Bordeaux into the first class
Kahn’s interest in taking over the traditional club is “no secret. Yes, we have been intensive in conversations with those responsible for a long time, with the stakeholders how a potential entry can look like.”
Girondins arrived in fourth class after bankruptcy in the summer of 2024 and the resulting forced descent from Ligue 2. There the club plays on the promotion of more than 100 million euros in debt.
“The association is in bankruptcy proceedings. Of course, the whole thing doesn’t make it quite as easy and very complex for us,” said Kahn. However, he does not want to cancel his plan to get into Bordeaux. “We looked at this very closely. The goal should be to bring this club back to Ligue 1 in the next few years. We can very well imagine being part of this solution.”
