Nikola Jokic concludes the regular season as the third league history player with incredible statistics.
With the next brilliant performance, NBA superstar Nikola Jokic has gained an excellent starting situation in the playoff race.
The Serb came to a triple double with 26 points, twelve assists and 16 rebounds in the 117: 109 against the Memphis Grizzlies and will thus complete the regular season as the third player in the Ligah history with double-digit average values in the three categories.
Only Russell Westbrook and Oscar Robertson had also done this. The feat had never succeeded in a center.
“If he is not voted the most valuable player in the league, it is the best season of a player who does not win this title,” said Interims head coach David Adelman after the game against Memphis about Jokic’s performance.
Second Nuggets victory under a new coach
For Jokic it was already the 34th triple double this season and for Adelman the second victory in the second game. The latter took over on Tuesday from the surprisingly released Michael Malone, the Nuggets championship coach from 2023.
Due to the victory, the Nuggets in the last regular season game at the Houston Rockets have the best chances of not only securing direct playoff participation, but also fourth place and thus a home advantage for the first round.
