Preuß reveals bad news at honor: “More broken hand than expected”

Franziska Preuß came to the honor with her partner Simon Schempp

Franziska Preuß is not yet fully recovered after her fall at the German Biathlon Championships. During an award ceremony, she revealed that her participation at the Munich Olympic Park is uncertain.

Biathlon overall World Cup winner Franziska Preuß is worried about competing at the Loop One Festival in Munich’s Olympic Park following her hand surgery.

After her fall at the German Championships, “more damage was done to the hand than initially assumed,” said the 31-year-old during her recognition at the Bavarian Sports Awards: “Rehabilitation is going well, I’m doing my best, the hand is improving every day. I hope the timing works out for next week.”

Preuß does not want to take any risks

However, she will not take any risks. “The main goal is in November, when the World Cup starts again,” Preuß emphasized: “I will be fit again by then.”

At the end of September, she had to undergo hand surgery but is not letting it get her down. “I am a master at such challenges, I’ve had much worse before.”

On October 19, the Biathlon World Federation will host its first official race on roller skis in Munich.

Dahlmeier’s death “still hard to grasp”

“That was of course a huge shock,” said her close friend Preuß once again: “It is still hard to understand that you won’t see her anywhere on cross-country or ski touring skis this winter. The accident happened during her greatest passion, and that comforts me a little.” Dahlmeier is hopefully now “watching from heaven.”
