Final day at the German Darts Championship! Martin Schindler is still the only German player remaining in the tournament.
Can Martin Schindler secure the next title on the European Tour? The German darts star is part of the final day at the German Darts Championship in Hildesheim.
In the quarterfinals, “The Wall” will face Dirk van Duijvenbode on Sunday afternoon from approximately 3:30 PM. The Dutch player has shown excellent form this weekend. On Friday, he threw a 9-darter and the following day in the second round, he achieved an average of over 117 points.
But Schindler also made an impression on Saturday evening, as he managed an impressive comeback. He was trailing 1:4 against William O’Connor, but then won five consecutive legs to secure victory.
Additionally, the quarterfinals will feature matches between Gerwyn Price and Danny Noppert, as well as Jonny Clayton and Gian van Veen.
Last year, Peter Wright triumphed in Hildesheim. “Snakebite” won the final 8:5 against the current world champion Luke Littler.
The current world champion Littler is not participating this year. Luke Humphries, Michael van Gerwen, and Gary Anderson will also not be competing in Hildesheim. Nevertheless, the participant field is filled with prominent players. Stephen Bunting leads the seeding list ahead of James Wade and Jonny Clayton.
In the first four rounds including the quarterfinals, matches are played in “Best-of-11-Legs” format: Six legs are needed to secure victory. From the semifinals onward, decisions are made in “Best of 13” format. The final is played as “Best of 15”.
