Gerardo Seoane returns to Switzerland to Young Boys. The Swiss coach had led the Bern team to three championships between 2018 and 2021.
Just one and a half months after his dismissal from Bundesliga club Borussia Mönchengladbach, coach Gerardo Seoane has found a new job. The 47-year-old Swiss returns to Young Boys Bern, whom he had already coached from 2018 to 2021 and led to three championship titles.
“YB is a very special club for me. After the very successful times between 2018 and 2021, the contact with many people in the club never faded,” said Seoane: “And when the opportunity arose to return to YB, it triggered positive emotions in me.”
Seoane returns to Bern
In the Swiss federal city, Seoane receives a contract until 2028 – in Gladbach he was still under contract until 2026. The Bern team had previously parted ways with coach Giorgio Contini on Friday. The Europa League opponent of VfB Stuttgart (January 29th in Stuttgart) is only in fifth place in the Swiss league.
Seoane had left Bern in 2021 for Bayer Leverkusen. At Bayer, where he was dismissed in October 2022, he had just as little lasting success as in Mönchengladbach, where he had been active since June 2023.
Borussia had parted ways with Seoane after just three matchdays of the current season.
