Florian Wirtz starts for Liverpool – but a superstar is missing again

Arne Slot is satisfied with Florian Wirtz's performance before the duel with Leeds. The Liverpool coach emphasizes that the German international is brimming with self-confidence even without scoring his own goals.

Liverpool coach Arne Slot has once again left Mohamed Salah out of the starting lineup for the away game against Leeds United. Florian Wirtz, however, is in the starting eleven.

This has never happened before! For the first time in his career, Mohamed Salah is on the bench for Liverpool FC in three Premier League games in a row. Florian Wirtz is again in the starting eleven for the away game against Leeds United (LIVETICKER).

Liverpool could only win one of their last four Premier League games. Arne Slot’s team is currently only twelfth in the table and is under a lot of pressure.

Salah had never been on the bench for more than one game in a row, provided he was in the squad. The Egyptian has been playing for the Reds since the summer of 2017 and has since played 314 games in England’s top league.

“It’s never an easy decision because we all know what a great player he is,” Slot said before kick-off regarding Salah’s place on the bench. “But it’s also up to me to choose the team that I think we need today. That’s why I made this decision.”
