Another setback for Marc-André ter Stegen! The German goalkeeper of FC Barcelona had actually hoped for playing time in the Spanish Supercopa, but that will no longer happen.
As the Catalans announced late Tuesday evening, ter Stegen is leaving Jeddah for “medical tests”. The examinations will take place in Barcelona. The Supercopa is being held in Saudi Arabia.

FC Barcelona: Ter Stegen Abandons Training
As the Spanish newspaper Sport reported, the 33-year-old had to end training prematurely after 25 minutes. More precise details about the possible injury are not known.
Barca, however, confirmed that the second team’s goalkeeper, Diego Kochen, will travel to Saudi Arabia to be available as a substitute behind regular goalkeeper Joan Garcia.
DFB: Ter Stegen Needs to Impress
Ter Stegen has had a year full of setbacks: he repeatedly struggled with injuries, he lost his regular spot, and Garcia was made the new number one ahead of him.
Since the Catalans no longer rely on the German and he absolutely wants to be between the posts for the DFB goal at the World Cup next summer, there have been rumors for some time about a possible loan move to gain match practice and thereby impress national coach Julian Nagelsmann.
