Marc-André ter Stegen is back in team training at FC Barcelona. Julian Nagelsmann reports on a conversation with the goalkeeper and what the future plan for him looks like.

After Barca’s keeper Marc-André ter Stegen recently had to leave Saudi Arabia, there is now good news.

Good news from Marc-André ter Stegen. The FC Barcelona goalkeeper is returning to the Catalans after his injury scare, as he announced on social media.

The 33-year-old wrote in a training clip: “All good. Morning training session in Barcelona. Now heading back to Jeddah to rejoin the team.”

The Catalans are currently in the Saudi Arabian port city to participate in the Spanish Supercopa. The German had originally hoped for playing minutes, but that didn’t happen.

Ter Stegen returns to Saudi Arabia

Late on Tuesday evening, the Blaugrana announced that ter Stegen was traveling back to Barcelona for “medical tests”. Sporting director Deco told Movistar before Wednesday’s semi-final against Bilbao that the keeper had an “uneasy feeling” in his knee.

“Of course, a player who has just recovered from an injury is always a bit more concerned because he has had problems with that knee in the past. Now he is reassured, and we are glad that it is nothing serious.”

For Sunday’s final against Real Madrid (from 8 PM in the LIVE TICKER), the German, who is now only a substitute keeper, will then be available on site.
