Vinzenz Geiger runs to his next medal at the eleventh world champion title by Norway’s top star Jarl Magnus Riiber. Geiger prevails in a dramatic final sprint against the Norwegian competition.
Combined Vinzenz Geiger won at the World Cup in Trondheim the day after the gold medal with the team Bronze in the final individual competition on the Großschanze and thus won its fourth medal. Geiger secured the bronze medal in a dramatic final sprint.
The Oberstdorfer had to give up on Saturday Norway’s top star Jarl Magnus Riiber, who won his eleventh World Cup title, and his compatriot Jörgen Graabak.
Geiger went on the home stretch together with Graabak and Jens Ofterbro. He could not follow the start of the silver medalist, but at least keep Ofterbro in chess.
At the top, the Norwegian dominator Jarl Magnus Riiber led his circles lonely. He crossed the finish line with more than a minute and grabbed a Norwegian flag before the final departure.
Riiber crowns his great career
Julian Schmid came in sixth place, Wendelin Thannheimer and Johannes Rydzek followed in ranks ten and 14. As with the unexpected win of the gold medal in the team competition, when Norway remained bronze due to the disqualification of Graabak, the four Oberstdorfers started for Germany.
Riiber, who ended his career at the end of the season for health and family reasons at the age of only 27, created the longed -for big conclusion in his last major individual race. He never ended up in danger on Saturday, after a dream jump, Riiber had gone 1:14 minutes ahead of the final 10 km cross-country skiing.
Geiger can look back on an extremely successful World Cup. With gold in the team, silver in mixed and bronze on the normal hill, he had a complete medal set in his pocket before the final race.
