FC Liverpool loses the final of the League Cup against Newcastle United. Reds legend Jamie Carragher rages after the defeat and takes on the club management.
Clear words from Jamie Carragher! After the final defeat of his ex-club in the League Cup against Newcastle United, the legend of FC Liverpool did not take a leaf out of his mouth.
At Sky Sports, he initially described the appearance as “probably one of the worst achievements of the Reds that I have ever seen in a cup final” and then demanded personnel changes in summer.
Jamie Carragher was angry after the final defeat
“It is difficult to be too critical, but …”
The 47-year-old was of the opinion that his former club had to sign at least two new offensive players this summer. After the defeat in the Wembley Stadium on Sunday, Carragher said: “You gave so much this season and only lost a league game. It is difficult to be too critical, but the defeat has made it clear where Liverpool has to improve. ”
The English legend pointed out that the contracts of Mohamed Salah, Trent Alexander-Arnold and Virgil van Dijk expire in summer, which would mean that they could leave the club free of charge after this season.
Legend demands two new attackers
However, Carragher believed that Liverpool urgently needed reinforcements in the attack, even if Salah stayed. “The lack of speed in the attack is blatant. Mohamed Salah is sorry, he was kept calm by PSG and was not particularly good today, but he doesn’t get any help from the other attackers, ”analyzed Carragher.
Salah scored 27 goals in the league. But a second gestart is missing. Luis Díaz comes to nine goals, Diogo Jota only cheered five times. The biggest disappointment for many Liverpool fans is Darwin Nunez. The 85 million man also only achieved five league.
Carragher therefore added: “The other attackers are good players, but they are not good enough. This summer you have to buy two attackers who can play next to Salah. ”
At the same time, the 47-year-old stated: “It is exciting because Liverpool will win the league and they still have to improve in some areas.”
