Panama’s footballers provided a sensation in the semi-finals of the Concacaf Nation League and eliminated the USA. The outsider defeated the defending champion with a late goal with 1-0 and meets Mexico in the final on Sunday, which won 2-0 against Canada in the second semi -finals.
Cecilio Waterman scored for Panama in the fourth minute of stoppage time – and thus also screwed up the competitive debut of the US national coach Mauricio Pochettino. “I am very, very disappointed,” said the Argentinian and spoke of a “really painful” defeat. From a “heavy blow” for Pochettino there was read in the US media.
