The German cross -country skiing festival continues – after the single coup on Friday evening, Coletta Rydzek cannot be stopped in the team sprint.
Double strike within 18 hours: Succession runner Coletta Rydzek also led the German team sprint duo in Lahti to victory the day after her sensational first World CuptriumPH.
Together with Laura Gimmler, the 27-year-old prevailed on Saturday in front of the Swedes Johanna Hagström and Maja Dahlqvist. Third place went to Switzerland.
“We baptize them: Cooletta! How long was that ago? This is a great success,” cheered ARD reporter Jens -Jörg Rieck. “It is incredible what happens here. I didn’t get a lot of sleep last night,” said Rydzek. Gimmler said: “This is my first World Cup victory. So, thank you very much, Coletta.”
First German team sprint victory in 15 years
As on Friday evening, Rydzek did not leave the hint of a chance on the home stretch of the competition. The two Oberstdorf women Gimmler and Rydzek had first reached the podium together in the team sprint, in 2023 there were also third place in Lahti.
Before Lahti, the German Ski Association was still in cross -country skiing without the season. It was also the first German team sprint in the World Cup since 2010, at that time Evi Die Dinebacher stand and Steffi Böhler prevailed in Rybinsk.
