Bierhoff complains: “Nobody wants back”

The former national team manager wants a discussion about a uniform strategy.

The former national team director Oliver Bierhoff has critically commented on the schedule for football professionals in summer. “We just have too many parties with us and everyone always thinks of themselves and nobody wants to go back,” the 56-year-old told Bayerischer Rundfunk .

Due to the final Four of the Nations League (June 4th to June 8th) and the club World Cup in the United States (June 14 to July 13), Bayern Munich and Borussia Dortmund players particularly expect a high burden before the exhausting World Cup season. National coach Julian Nagelsmann had already announced that it was no consideration for the nomination for the Nations League.

“It will be a summer where the players don’t have a break again. And it’s really not just two games, but it is a long time,” said Bierhoff.

Bierhoff’s hope for improvement

He would like all parties to sit down at a table and ask the question: “What uniform strategy do we get that not only the players are protected, but also the quality of the game does not suffer?”

Bierhoff cannot currently participate in a possible discussion in a responsible role. The 1996 European champion is currently working as a consultant and in 2023 founded the sports division of the Family Office Finvia.
