The currently unemployed Starcoach is supposed to help with his presence alone.
In order to bridge his current unemployment, Italy’s former national soccer coach Roberto Mancini is involved in his ex-club Sampdoria Genoa in the lowlands of the second division descent strap. According to club president Matteo Manfredi, the 60-year-old is supposed to morally support the new coach duo Attilio Lombardo and Alberico Evani and mentally strengthen the new coaching duo Attilio Lombardo and Alberico.
“Roberto is by our side and will surely help us to get back on track. His role is not only formal: friends don’t always have to be there, but his presence will be permanent and felt,” Manfredi explained the Talisman consultation. However, Mancini apparently has no decisive powers in day -to -day business.
Sampdoria is fighting in the Italian series B two years after the first division descent against the crash into third class and has been waiting for a win for more than two months. Six game days before the end of the season, Genoa ranked three points behind the first non -relegation place on the third last table.
Mancini, who led Italy to the European Championship title in 2021 and worked from August 2023 to autumn last year as Saudi Arabia’s national coach, is still revered by Sampdoria’s supporters almost 30 years after his departure from the Ligurier. With 132 goals in 424 compulsory missions, the 36-time international is still Genoa’s record scorer.
As captain, Mancini led the SAMP in 1991 to the only championship in the Apennin and a year later in 1992 to the final of the European national championship competition. From 1985 to 1994, Genoa and his star striker also won the Italian trophy four times. After the beginning of his coaching career, Mancini hired a total of four times at Serie-A clubs, but so far, despite his enormous popularity in Genoa, was not on the Sampdoria bank.
