Federica Brignone is making progress after her horror injury. But at the operation, the next bad news is unveiled.
Skir racer Federica Brignone is standing before a race against time after her fall with serious injuries to the Winter Olympics in Milan and Cortina d’Ampezzo – now the next big setback is threatened.
Because after the Italian had fallen heavily a few weeks ago and bone breaks sustained on the left leg, a cruciate ligament rupture was also found at the operation. This has not yet been treated operatively.
In an interview with L’équipe, the dominator of the past winter now revealed that the next intervention in the knee threatens in summer. “I will decide in mid -May,” she said.
Next surgery at Brignone?
Brignone recently made progress and the pain subsided. “The leg is fine, although life with the accident was complicated. But everything is going well at the moment. I have already started rehabilitation and the operation went well,” she reveals to her health.
The 34-year-old, who contracted the injury to the Italian championships, has already started working on the comeback.
“I am devoting myself to rehabilitation and physiotherapy every day. I do exercises at home both in the morning and in the afternoon. Recently my threads were drawn, and next week I can start swimming again,” said Brignone.
The ski star also uses time without World Cups for leisure activities. “In the meantime, I meet friends, organize picnic, read and put ice on my knee. The first two months will be crucial.”
Brignone wants to go to the Olympic Games
In any case, the star has already dealt with the event. “The Olympic Games will be different from the previous ones, in whom we had a single Olympic village and almost all sports were merged. This time we will not even be with the men who will compete in Bormio. It will be more like a big World Cup or a World Cup.
Another surgery in summer could destroy dreams.
