Two fewer key players for FC Bayern! An important duo is turning their backs on Munich and moving within the EuroLeague.
FC Bayern Basketball will have to do without its two top stars Carsen Edwards and Nick Weiler-Babb in the upcoming season.
As Bayern announced, the two top players are leaving the club and joining a EuroLeague competitor for the upcoming season.
“Carsen and Nick played a major role in our successful season, and their services will ensure that they retain a special status for our club,” said FCBB Sports Director Dragan Tarlac in the club’s press release: “We wish both guys every success on their future path and will certainly see them again soon.”

Edwards and Weiler-Babb are among the EuroLeague top players
Edwards and Weiler-Babb were the pillars of Bayern last season, especially in the so exciting EuroLeague season.
Both players had also been honored by the league for their outstanding performance with individual awards.
Weiler-Babb was named the league’s best defensive player. Top scorer Edwards even made it into the All-EuroLeague First Team, making him one of the five best players in the league.
There had long been rumors about Weiler-Babb leaving. He is probably moving to Anadolu Efes Istanbul.
Bayern let Edwards go voluntarily
The fans had still hoped for Edwards. Even sporting director Tarlac sounded positive after the championship in an interview with SPORT1: “If there is goodwill on both sides, you can also find a good way. We are in good talks, but we still have to see how they ultimately turn out. But we are positive that we can keep some of the players we want to keep.”

But according to SPORT1 information, the club was recently no longer fully convinced of Edwards. Actually, they had already agreed on an extension, but then withdrew the offer for the superstar.
Edwards himself actually wanted to stay, but Bayern decided against it. The point guard is now apparently joining Virtus Bologna.
Now two real pillars are leaving FCBB. It will be exciting to see how the club replaces the two top stars.
