Next resignation from the German ski jumpers! After Markus Eisenbichler had already announced his end of his career in mid -March, another followed up. On Instagram, Stephan Leyhe announced that he will last for the last time at Lahti’s Lahti, Finnish.

“For me, the right time is simply the right time to quit my skis and end my career,” said the athlete.

“I look back very happy for the past 25 years, where I was allowed to practice a sport in which I simply flew through the air with my body and material.”

And further: “I had a lot of emotional and horny moments, was able to celebrate great success with the team and I am simply overjoyed over this time.”

Leyhe celebrated great team successes

In Lahti, Leyhe will start for a total of 240 times in a World Cup jumping, six times he was on the podium in his career in individual competitions, and in 2020 he won at his home World Cup in Willingen.

Meanwhile, he celebrated his greatest successes with his teammates. At the 2018 Olympics he won the silver medal with the DSV eagles, followed by bronze four years later. He became team world champion at the Nordic Ski World Championship 2019.

The Eisenbichler, also before his career end – ends in Planica after skiing at the end of March – commented on the post of his long -time teammate with the words: “Not you too”.
