End of a remarkable era: After almost 16 years, Sporting Kansas City from the North American football profile MLS separated from his coach Peter Vermes. After the team is still winning after six match days this season and has lost twelve of the past 13 games since September 2024, both sides agreed with mutually agricultural cooperation.

Under the former US international, Sporting KC won the MLS championship title for the second time after 2000. The three German Erik Thommy (formerly FC Augsburg and VfB Stuttgart), Tim Leibold (UA 1. FC Nürnberg and Hamburger SV) and Robert Voloder (UA 1. FC Köln) belong to the current squad. Vermes took over the post of coach in Kansas City in August 2009.

Vermes was one of the longest active trainers in professional football. Marathon men in Europe are Frank Schmidt from 1st FC Heidenheim (since September 2007) and Diego Simeone at the Spanish first division club Atletico Madrid (since December 2011). The record holder in professional football after the Second World War is Guy Roux, who trained AJ Auxerre for 36 years. Before that, Fred Everiss was the coach of West Bromwich Albion in England for almost 46 years.
