Arteta: Havertz “ready” for next starting eleven

Mikel Arteta speaks about the team's incredible record and performance in the press conference after the league phase of the Champions League. He also highlights Kai Havertz, who was back in the starting line-up after a long injury break.

Kai Havertz is likely facing his next start right away. The national player had only celebrated his starting eleven comeback on Wednesday after 357 days – and apparently handled it well.

Following his successful starting eleven comeback in the Champions League, national football player Kai Havertz is likely to start again for Arsenal in the Premier League. Arsenal’s team manager Mikel Arteta considers the long-injured attacker “ready” for it, despite only three days of rest, the Spaniard confirmed before the league leaders’ match against Leeds United on Saturday (4:00 PM).

“He was out for a long time, and now we need to manage the load and the games in which we select him for the starting eleven well,” Arteta added. After the Champions League clash with Qairat Almaty on Wednesday (3:2), where Havertz scored a goal and set up another, the 26-year-old “felt no reaction,” Arteta reported.

Havertz was in Arsenal’s starting lineup for the first time in 357 days, having been sidelined first by a thigh injury, then a knee injury. “It was super positive. You could immediately see what impact he can have on the team,” praised Arteta: “His biggest strength is that he makes you better – through the way he moves, communicates with you, gives you information.”
