At the season finale: Feurstein redeems Austria

Premiere for Lukas Feurstein

The 23-year-old prevails in Sun Valley in front of his compatriot Raphael Haaser and Franjo of Allmen from Switzerland.

For Feurstein it was only the second podium placement of his career after third place in early December in the Super-G from Beaver Creek.

First World Cup victory for Austria since February 2024

It was the first World Cup victory for the Skination Austria for more than a year, on February 25, 2024 Manuel Feller won the slalom in Palisades Tahoe.

Ski quantity Marco Odermatt (Switzerland), winner of the overall World Cup and the departure, giant slalom and Super-G classification, finished fifth in the US state of Idaho on Sunday. Junior world champion Benno Brandis, the only German starter in the Super-G, retired at his World Cup premiere after a good trip until then. Feurstein had 19 hundredths of a second ahead of Haaser.

In Sun Valley, the top 25 of the respective World Cup ranking as well as all runners with at least 500 World Cup points are at the start, plus the winners of the Junior World Cup. From Tuesday to Thursday, the last slalom and giant slalom races of women and men take place in the USA.
