The Slovenian biathlete Alex Cisar is ending his career at the age of only 25. In the announcement, the two-time 2019 junior world champion explained that he will now work as a pilot.
“I can proudly say that I am now a First Officer and will be flying the Airbus 320,” Cisar revealed on Instagram. “After countless hours of studying, simulator sessions, and dedication, I have realized one of my biggest dreams – to fly a real passenger aircraft.”
Alex Cisar ends his biathlon career
Cisar last competed in the IBU Cup at the end of 2023, and his last World Cup race was even longer ago. A decision was therefore overdue for him. “It has now been two years since my last World Cup race and it is time to officially share the end of my biathlon career,” he described.
In the announcement, the 25-year-old expressed his gratitude to his former companions. “Thank you to everyone for the support. From the coaches from whom I learned so much, the entire Slovenian biathlon team, and of course my family and friends. It was a ride… and now it continues,” Cisar wrote.
At the end, the 25-year-old gave his followers a special message: “Next time you fly, pay close attention, because you might hear my voice saying: Ladies and Gentlemen, this is the First Officer speaking. I’m Alex, welcome aboard!”
