Daniel Tschofenig, overall Ski Jumping World Cup winner and winner of the Four Hills Tournament, has been named Austria’s Sportsman of the Year 2025. In the women’s category, the award went to skier Stephanie Venier.
Ski jumper Daniel Tschofenig was honored in his home country for his dream season and can now call himself “Austria’s Sportsman of the Year 2025.” The 23-year-old prevailed on Wednesday evening at the Wiener Stadthalle in a vote by journalists with 916 points against golfer Sepp Straka (729) and Ski World Champion Raphael Haaser (721).
“I honestly didn’t expect it. Really cool to be able to take that with me,” Tschofenig is quoted as saying by the Krone . “For a season that was full of success, this is of course brilliant.” The Carinthian celebrated both winning the overall World Cup and triumphing at the Four Hills Tournament last winter.

Venier Honored Among Women
Tschofenig is the first Austrian ski jumper since Thomas Morgenstern in 2011 to receive this award. Stephanie Venier received the same honor among women. The 31-year-old had won two medals at the Alpine Ski World Championships in Saalbach in February.
Venier won gold in the Super-G and bronze in the team combination. “Wow, it’s the crowning and perfect conclusion. It couldn’t be better in sports,” said the former athlete, who ended her career in August with some background noise.
